In the UK, fees usually range from £200 to £800, with most professional magicians averaging around £350–£450. But understanding the reasons behind that range is more important than the number itself.
I’m Sean Boon, a wedding magician performing across Hampshire, West Sussex, the New Forest, and Surrey, and I want to give you an honest look at pricing and more importantly, why value matters more than price.
The Cheaper End (£200–£300)
At the lower end, you’ll usually find magicians who are newer to weddings. That can mean:

The High-End (£600–£800)
Some magicians position themselves as premium, charging upwards of £600. They might work fewer weddings a year and focus on high-end venues.
Here’s the truth most couples don’t realise: a higher price creates a perceived sense of value, but it doesn’t automatically mean better magic. These performers are often buying the same cards and props, and practicing just as much as anyone else.
The difference is mostly marketing and positioning, not the actual experience your guests will have as many are performing the same core tricks.
Location & Cost of Living
Where your wedding is and where the magician is based has a big impact on pricing.
Weddings in Surrey, London or parts of Hampshire often have higher overall budgets because of the local cost of living. Travel, fuel, and time commitments are factored in fairly by professional magicians, which is why prices vary depending on venue location.

No Hourly Rates
I don’t charge by the hour. (See my other blog post explaining why) weddings don’t run on a clock, and the last thing you want is a magician cutting things short because of time. I work around your schedule, whether that’s during:

- Wedding breakfast

- In-between moments while guests are waiting
Optional extras can also be included, bringing the total to around £425, depending on what you want for your day.
